Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out the views of the people of Jorong Nan IX Nagari Salimpaung regarding the tradition of Praying After Death. This research method uses a qualitative descriptive approach. The research results show that praying after death is a tradition that is preserved by the community to uphold cultural values and as proof that the family or heirs still remember the services of those who have died. But on the other hand, in the teachings of Islam there is no guidance from the Prophet Muhammad except for recommendations to carry out pilgrimages to cemeteries as a reminder of someone's death. As an understanding, prayer is an attempt to devote oneself to God by recognizing all forms of weakness, as well as hope and generosity and asking Him, as a form of obedience to Allah SWT
